Spurs fans were less than happy with Serge Aurier after the right-back missed a glorious chance to win the game against Middlesbrough on Sunday.
The 27-year-old was left with time and space in the area after a pass from Erik Lamela but failed to hit the target with an effort that sailed way over the bar. It was a golden opportunity for Jose Mourinho’s side to win the game but the miss consigned both teams to a replay at the Tottenham Hotspur stadium.
The Ivory Coast international, who joined Spurs from PSG in 2017, has been impressive since the appointment of Mourinho in November; with just one performance earning the defender less than a 7.0 rating. However, his performance in the 1-1 draw against Middlesbrough was slated by fans, mainly for his terrible miss towards the end of the game.
Should Aurier have scored the chance against Middlesbrough?

That’s like the 3rd match in a row he’s finished off a game lobbing a ball 20 feet over goal..

These Spurs fans were clearly less than happy with Aurier’s performance against Championship opposition, with many suggesting that Mourinho sells the right-back during the transfer window.
What do we think?
Although it was a glorious chance for Aurier, in general, he played quite well and provided an excellent assist for Lucas Moura to score the equalising goal. The 27-year-old can be erratic at times, but he and Kyle Walker-Peters are the only natural right-backs at the club, so it would definitely be a surprise if Mourinho attempted to sell the £18 million rated man during this month’s window.
