Spurs fans were devastated to hear that Harry Kane is expected to miss four to six weeks after suffering a hamstring injury in the 1-0 loss at Southampton on New Year’s Day.

According to Sun Sport (via Daily Hotspur), the England striker could spend as much as six weeks on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring at St Mary’s. It comes as a blow for Jose Mourinho’s side, with the club arguably lacking any natural back-up to Kane in the senior side, with Troy Parrott perhaps not quite ready to be trusted as the main choice up front.

The 26-year-old, who is a product of the youth academy at Spurs, has been in fantastic form so far this season for club and country; with 30 goals in 39 appearances in all competitions. Mourinho will no doubt be hoping that he will have his talismanic striker back in time for the Champions League clash with RB Leipzig, with the first leg taking place on the 19th February.

Is Troy Parrott ready to be used as the main striker at Spurs in Kane's absence?

These Spurs fans are clearly devastated to lose Kane during an important run of games, but also recognise that he should not be rushed back in order to make sure he fully recovers.

What do we think?

It is no surprise that Kane suffered an injury, as the England international has played 90 minutes in every game Mourinho has taken charge of, except the dead rubber Champions League clash against Bayern Munich.

With the 26-year-old now out injured, Spurs will perhaps be forced to look for a new striker in the January window if they want to push on for a top-four spot.
