Spurs fans were devastated to learn this week that Moussa Sissoko is now expected to be out until April with a knee injury.
The club tweeted out an update on his injury, which was suffered in the New Year’s Day defeat at Southampton, revealing that he will undergo surgery and is not expected to return to action until April. The French midfielder joins a long injury list at the North London club, which may well force Jose Mourinho’s hand in the January transfer window.
Sissoko joined Spurs from Newcastle in 2016 and has gone on to make 151 appearances in his three and a half years with the North London club. The 30-year-old has been a regular under Mourinho since his appointment in November, often occupying a spot on the right-wing as well as in midfield and a more advanced position has seen him double his goal tally for the club in just two months; with the French international having now hit four goals for the club following efforts against Burnley and Bournemouth.
Do Spurs need a replacement for Sissoko in the January window?

Terrible news. Moussa being out till April means WE NEED to buy another midfielder. The January window is still wide open and we need to be proactive in our business.

These Spurs fans are clearly devastated with the update on Sissoko, with some suggesting that the club needs to act in the January transfer window in order to compete.
What do we think?
Sissoko has been a big part of the Spurs side so far this season but hasn’t produced consistently good displays; averaging a 6.64 rating across all competitions. However, with his injury being a lengthy one, you would imagine that Mourinho will be keen to bring in a replacement during this month’s window.
