A lot of Newcastle United fans have reacted to claims in the Evening Chronicle that Ayoze Perez was disappointed to be booed on his return to St James’ Park.

The former Newcastle forward believes that he gave everything to the club while he was on Tyneside, and he still considers the Toon to be his second home.

Should Perez have expected to be booed?

The report also says that Perez had a catch up with a lot of the Newcastle squad before Leicester thumped the Toon 3-0.

Many Newcastle fans, though, felt that the booing of the Spaniard was unnecessary.

What do we think?

Perez left Newcastle in the summer because he thought that the club wasn’t ambitious enough and as soon as Brendan Rodgers matched his release clause, he made the easy decision to move from Newcastle to Leicester.

The 26-year-old made 195 appearances for Newcastle and scored 48 goals as well as providing 17 assists.

Perez, who is valued at £27m by Transfermarkt, scored on his return to St James’ Park and was booed throughout the match.

He was a good player for the Toon, but he always received criticism from some sections of the fanbase – which was why he invented his now trademark celebration.

Should he really have been surprised by the reaction considering the way some Toon fans treated him during his stay on Tyneside.
