Spurs fans were devastated to hear that both Harry Kane and Tanguy Ndombele are continuing to be assessed and will both miss the trip to Middlesbrough on Sunday.

The club provided an update on the duo on their official Twitter page, stating that Kane (hamstring) and Ndombele (hip) are both being assessed but will not feature in the FA Cup third-round match at the Riverside. Both were injured in the 1-0 loss against Southampton on New Year’s Day and join a long list of injuries which Jose Mourinho will have to deal with.

We may well see a youthful side travel to take on Middlesbrough on Sunday, although the FA Cup represents a great chance for Mourinho to deliver silverware in his first season at the North London club; which would end a barren spell which has seen Spurs fail to win a trophy since a League Cup win in 2008.

Do Spurs need to bring in reinforcements in January?

Reaction from Spurs fans to the injury update can be seen in the tweets below.

These Spurs fans are clearly devastated with the club’s injury update and will be hoping that the club can still produce a strong display against Middlesbrough despite the injury crisis.

What do we think?

The only good news for Spurs is that these injuries have come at the beginning of January, so it gives the club plenty of time to bring in reinforcements during the January transfer window. It will be interesting to see the sort of line up Mourinho opts to play against their Championship opponents this weekend.
