Spurs fans were devastated to hear that the club were not named as potential suitors of Lille midfielder Boubakary Soumare.
In a recent discussion of the midfielder by French news outlet RMCSport (via Daily Hotspur), the North London club are not credited as one of the clubs taking an interest in the 20-year-old midfielder. Soumare has been linked with a host of Premier League clubs, including Spurs, over the last few weeks, but the latest report suggests that Jose Mourinho’s side will not be making a move for the Lille youngster in this month’s transfer window.
Soumare has established himself as a regular in Christophe Galtier’s side this season; making 24 appearances in all competitions for the French team; in which he played every single game of Lille’s Champions League campaign. The French u’21 international is currently valued at £19.8 million by transfermarkt and had perhaps been seen as a replacement for the injured Moussa Sissoko; who was ruled out until April earlier this week.

These Spurs fans are clearly less than impressed with the update on Soumare and will be hoping that they do make a move for the midfielder this month.
What do we think?
Mourinho is lacking options in midfield following the injuries to Sissoko and Tanguy Ndombele, so perhaps he should be looking for a replacement during the transfer window. However, Soumare is still relatively inexperienced and with Lille reportedly demanding £33.9 million for the Frenchman, perhaps Spurs’ money would be better spent elsewhere.
