With Harry Kane ruled out until April, it seems as if Jose Mourinho has made signing a new striker a priority in the January transfer window, with Napoli forward Arkadiusz Milik the latest target.

According to the Daily Mirror, Milik is one of three options being seriously considered by the club, after it was announced that Harry Kane would be out of action until April, with the England striker requiring surgery on a hamstring tear. Spurs have no senior back-up to Kane in the squad, although Heung-Min Son and Lucas Moura have both played that position in the past, with 17-year-old Troy Parrott unlikely to be called upon to fill Kane’s boots.

Milik has started the season impressively for Napoli with 10 goals in just 12 appearances across all competitions. The 25-year-old  could potentially provide a short-term replacement for Kane; who has 30 goals for club and country so far this season and may well favour a move away from Napoli; considering the recent disputes between the squad and owner Aurelio Di Laurentis.

TIF Tactics:

The Polish international is currently valued at £36 million by transfermarkt, so it would be an expensive option for Spurs if they were to make an approach for the Napoli man during this month’s window. Thankfully for the North London club, if they did bring him in, he would be available for the Champions League clash with RB Leipzig in February, after the recent rule change which allows a player to play for more than one club in the competition.

Spurs seem close to the signing of fellow Polish striker Krzysztof Piatek, but Milik could be one to keep an eye on should that deal fall through.
