It seems as if Tottenham Hotspur are continuing to be linked with Juventus midfielder Emre Can ahead of this evening’s transfer deadline.

Reports in Germany from Sport1 (via Sport Witness), suggest that Can’s transfer to Borussia Dortmund is ‘shaking’ and that other clubs, including Tottenham Hotspur, Arsenal and PSG remain in the running and have made ‘lucrative offers’ to sign the former Liverpool midfielder. Dortmund had looked like favourites to sign the 26-year-old on a loan-to-buy deal but Bild reports that talks have stalled due to issues over wage demands, with Lucien Favre’s side only willing to offer the German international €8.5 million (£7.14 million) a year, which is a significant cut from his current earnings of €16 million (£13.4 million).

Jose Mourinho’s side have already brought in Gedson Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso as midfield options this month, but with French midfielder Moussa Sissoko set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines due to injury, Can could provide some much-needed Premier League experience in midfield.

TIF Tactics:

If talks continue to stall between Juventus and Borussia Dortmund, then we could see Spurs sneak in and bring the 26-year-old midfielder to North London ahead of the deadline. The former Bayer Leverkusen man will surely be keen for a move, having made just two starts for Maurizio Sarri’s Juventus side so far this season.

Can impressed during his last spell in the Premier League; making 167 appearances for Liverpool before securing a move to Juventus in 2018. With Spurs’ fellow defensive-midfielders Eric Dier and Victor Wanyama having struggled to perform under Mourinho so far this season, the £27 million rated man could yet prove to be an excellent signing.
