Spurs fans reacted to Harry Kane congratulating his teammates on Twitter after they triumphed in the FA Cup third-round replay against Middlesbrough on Tuesday night.

Early goals from Giovani Lo Celso and Erik Lamela were enough to see Jose Mourinho’s side through the fourth round, where they will face a difficult trip to St Mary’s to face Southampton. The England striker was recently ruled out until April with a hamstring injury and fans are clearly missing the 26-year-old’s influence.

Kane had started the season in excellent form for Spurs; hitting 17 goals in all competitions but Mourinho now faces an extended spell without the talismanic striker, as they look to challenge for a top-four spot in the Premier League. Some fans are speculating whether the England captain will return in time for the FA Cup final, after their progression on Tuesday night sealed a place in the next round.

These Spurs fans clearly miss Kane, although some disagree that Spurs’ performance against Middlesbrough deserved much praise.

What do we think?

It was a professional performance from Spurs but Mourinho will no doubt be disappointed that they once again failed to keep a clean sheet, with Geroge Saville’s late consolation denying Paulo Gazzaniga a bonus. However, progressing through to the fourth round is the most important thing for Spurs, who will surely be hoping to end their long wait for a trophy with an FA Cup win.
