Spurs fans were relieved to hear from Alasdair Gold that Tottenham are unlikely to make a move for Southampton midfielder Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg on deadline day.
The Football.London journalist tweeted saying that from what he understands Spurs are not looking to bid for the Danish midfielder, despite Sky Sports linking him with the North London club. The Saints captain has been in decent form so far this season; averaging a 6.86 rating in all competitions.
However, Spurs have already brought in fellow midfielders Gedson Fernandes and Giovani Lo Celso this month and Ralph Hasenhuttl would surely not be keen to sell his club captain on deadline day. Since joining Southampton from Bayern Munich in 2016, the 24-year-old has established himself as a regular in the side and has gone on to make 123 appearances; scoring on five occasions.
Would Hojbjerg be a good signing for Spurs?
Yes
No
Reaction from Spurs fans to Gold’s post on Hojbjerg can be seen in the tweets below.
Good! Geezer is useless, wouldn’t improve our squad and would just be another typical spurs signing

No problem, not fussed at all about getting Hojberg really. Really good player but we need a ST right now more than anything.

Another midfielder seems very unlikely.

For once I’m glad you’re that guy, he is not a player we need in an already packed position.

That’s good. Didn’t want him anyway. Not good enough

These Spurs fans are clearly relieved to hear that they probably won’t be signing Hojbjerg this month.
What do we think?
Hojbjerg is an established Premier League captain and is just 24-years-old so if Spurs don’t opt to sign him this month, then they could re-visit the idea in summer.
