Spurs fans were full of praise for Serge Aurier after some of his key stats so far this season emerged on Twitter.
Twitter account TranSPURS tweeted some of the Ivorian’s best stats from this campaign; including having the second most assists in all competitions for a defender and second most successful tackles per game in the Premier League. The former PSG man has been impressive so far this season; averaging a 7.33 rating in all competitions; and also has the second-highest rating of any Spurs player.
Aurier had struggled to establish himself as a regular in the Spurs side in his first couple of years at the club, remaining second-choice to Kieran Trippier until his departure for Atletico Madrid during the summer. However, the 27-year-old has well and truly become first-choice right-back under Mourinho, with the stats from TranSPURS showing just how good a season he is having.
Has Aurier been the most improved player under Mourinho?

Inconsistant yes. Awful, not at all. Has had some really good games since Jose has come in.

Very similar to Kyle Walker, can cross and has good pace but you are just waiting for the inevitable mistake that costs the team.
Massively improved since Jose arrived though— scotty (@scottspur78) January 28, 2020
Much improved and important this season under Mourinho definitely still needs to work on his defence gets out position etc but much better

He’s a bizarre player. He’s so good in a lot of areas, & yet he has a few glaring weaknesses defensively. While he contributes a lot going forward, I feel we may have secured more clean sheets this season with a more defensively secure right back.

Aurier has definitely improved which wasn’t hard as he couldn’t really have played worse than how he was playing
But imo thats all that some fans remember even if he improves more
as soon as he makes a mistake some fans will always jump on his backI can see a big improvement

He just has that clanger every few games. If he can iron that out he will be world class

These Spurs fans clearly feel that Aurier is a quality player and if he can cut out a few more mistakes then he could improve even further.
What do we think?
Aurier’s attacking prowess is impressive but recent performances as a right-back have shown that he is improving defensively too and he is a great option for Mourinho to have in defence.
