Spurs fans were frustrated to hear that the club reportedly rejected the chance to sign Real Madrid’s Luka Jovic this month and are instead attempting to bring in either Krzysztof Piatek or Willian Jose.
According to Mail Sport (via Daily Hotspur), the North London club declined the opportunity to sign Jovic, preferring instead to look at Willian Jose and Piatek. The Serbian striker signed for Real Madrid in the summer after an impressive spell with Eintracht Frankfurt; in which he scored 36 goals in 75 appearances for the Bundesliga side.
However, the 22-year-old has struggled to establish himself in Zinedine Zidane’s side so far this season; scoring just once in 14 appearances in La Liga, 10 of which have come from the bench. Spurs are in need of a striker during this month’s transfer window, with usual first-choice Harry Kane set for a lengthy spell on the sidelines after injuring his hamstring at the start of the month.

What do we think?
Although Jovic has shown he can be a quality striker with his performances at Frankfurt, his form this season suggests that he may not be worth his current Transfermarkt value of £36 million, especially for a striker who would probably just fill the gap until Kane returns from injury.
