Alasdair Gold has deflated the hopes of fans after confirming that the Gareth Bale to Spurs deal is “not happening” on deadline day.
The Football.London journalist tweeted out that the 30-year-old winger is unlikely to return to North London this month, despite numerous reports linking him with a move to Jose Mourinho’s side. He also shared some quotes originally posted by journalist Tom Allnutt from Zinedine Zidane, in which the Real Madrid boss said: “Gareth is here with us and I am counting on him. I am not contemplating this possibility.”
As has been said a million times in every window it's not happening, but here's the latest Gareth Bale talk from his manager moments ago just in case anyone still believes Spurs will sign a £625k-a-week 30-year-old. https://t.co/JyIcXdZwOj

The Real Madrid man has struggled with injuries this season and as a result, has started just 10 times in all competitions for the La Liga giants. Since making the move to Spain in 2013, Bale has gone on to make 246 appearances for the Galacticos; contributing an impressive 105 goals and 67 appearances.

TIF Tactics:
It is no surprise that Spurs are unlikely to re-sign Bale, considering his sizeable wage demands and injury problems. Jose Mourinho’s side have already brought in a young winger in Steven Bergwijn and don’t really need to strengthen in the wing position considering the range of options already available to them. Although the Welsh international could feasibly fill in for the injured Harry Kane up front; having produced his best performances there this season for Wales, there are surely cheaper options for the North London club to consider.
The 30-year-old is currently valued at £36 million by transfermarkt, so that plus his wages would result in an extremely expensive transfer for the club, something which Daniel Levy is surely unwilling to sanction.
