Some Southampton fans have made their opinions known about the club’s chase of Tottenham Hotspur right-back Kyle Walker-Peters in the ongoing January transfer window.

The Saints have drawn heavy links with a move for the right-back in recent days, with reports from FootballInsider247 claiming that the Englishman is set to hold talks with Ralph Hasenhuttl over a potential move to the St. Mary’s Stadium this month.

The report went onto claim that the Spurs man will also hold talks with Roy Hodgson over a possible move to Crystal Palace too.

Southampton fans: Do you want Walker-Peters at St. Mary's?

Would be a lovely signing!

A debate about Walker-Peters broke about amongst Southampton fans recently. A Saints-related Twitter handle asked fans for their opinion about the player.

Walker-Peters is a product of the Tottenham youth academy and has risen through the ranks at the club over the years.

This season though, the 22-year-old has made only five appearances in all competitions for the club. Three of them have come in the Premier League and he had started all of the club’s first three games of the season. In the Champions League, he started the club’s group stage game against Bayern Munich.

Last season, Walker-Peters had made ten appearances in all competitions for the Lilywhites. He racked up three assists and all of them came in the club’s 5-0 win over Bournemouth at home. He also featured in their 1-1 draw with Barcelona in the Champions League.

Under Jose Mourinho in the Premier League, Walker-Peters has been on the bench only twice in the Premier League.

What do we think?

Southampton currently have two options at right-back in Cedric Soares and Yan Valery. While Cedric has been the regular starter, having played 17 times in the Premier League. It shows that Walker-Peters might not be able to play regularly. Keeping that mind, Southampton might not be the best place for his development.
