Spurs fans were delighted to see Alasdair Gold’s post praising Giovani Lo Celso after his performance in the 2-1 win over Norwich City on Wednesday night.
The journalist posted a video of some of the Argentinian’s highlights from the match against Daniel Farke’s side, saying: “A playmaker who will launch into slide tackles and use his strength to hold off opponents you say? Hello Giovani Lo Celso. Also worth noting the number of interceptions he’s been making on goalkeeper kicks out and passes from the back. Great anticipation.”
The 23-year-old is currently on loan at Spurs from Real Betis and has been enjoying a run in Jose Mourinho’s side of late, after struggling to establish himself under former manager Mauricio Pochettino after a hip injury ruled him out for a significant period earlier in the season. The Argentinian international was at the heart of all the good things Spurs did in their win against Norwich; earning an impressive 7.79 rating for his performance.
Should Lo Celso start against Southampton on Sunday?

One fan even stated that his movement is reminiscent of Eden Hazard. The pair share many of the same strengths, according to WhoScored, with passing, holding onto the ball and dribbling all named as strengths for both players.

These Spurs fans clearly enjoyed Lo Celso’s performance against Norwich and will no doubt be hoping to see him continue to impress against Southampton in the FA Cup on Sunday.
What do we think?
Lo Celso is starting to really impress in a Spurs shirt after a mixed start and it will be interesting to see if the North London club does take up their option of bringing in the £45 million rated midfielder this month.
