Spurs fans were delighted to hear this week that Inter midfielder Matias Vecino has reportedly agreed to join the club during the January transfer window.
According to Italian journalist Alfredo Pedulla (via Daily Hotspur), the Uruguayan midfielder has agreed to join the North London club and Inter are currently working on a deal with Spurs for him to join. It is unclear, however, whether he will be included in the Christian Eriksen deal; with the Danish international reportedly close to signing for Antonio Conte’s side.
Vecino has been in fairly strong form for Inter so far this season; averaging a 6.85 rating across all competitions; having contributed two goals and two assists from midfield. The Uruguay international is currently valued at £20.7 million by Transfermarkt and with Spurs reportedly holding out for around £20 million for Eriksen, a swap deal could well be on the cards.
Would Vecino be a good signing for Spurs?

For short term as a DM fine and he is better than Dier….

Don’t complain about Vecino guys. He is better than Dier at the very least

If true, this is great! Vecino looks decent for counter attacking – quick with the ball breaking into space and good at picking out forwards with long balls. Much needed addition.

Good source on judging his positions https://t.co/PVFNxcKHac . Not really a Wanyama / Dier type enforcer DM that we desperately need. But not a bad player.

These Spurs fans are clearly happy to see that the club have reportedly agreed to terms with Vecino and will be hoping that a deal can be struck between the two clubs.
What do we think?
Vecino doesn’t have any experience in the Premier League and is already 28, so it is difficult to see the reasoning behind bringing him in, especially with the club having already signed fellow midfielder Gedson Fernandes on loan this transfer window. Any money from the Eriksen sale could perhaps be utilised on a striker to replace the injured Harry Kane rather than another midfielder.
