Sheffield United’s match against Arsenal this past weekend had added importance to Chris Basham. The defender made his 250th start for the club against the Gunners, having played under three managers at Bramall Lane, including Nigel Clough, Nigel Adkins and Chris Wilder.
“It means a lot. I’ve been here five and a half years now and not many players stick around for that long these days. I’m very privileged, very proud to wear the badge,” said the player (Sheffield United).
When the club posted the quote on Twitter, fans were quick to show their appreciation. They think he has been an excellent servant to the club. Others admit that it has been a privilege to see him play for the side and that he has made a resurgence since Wilder’s appointment.

Is Chris Basham your favourite ever Sheffield United player?
Yes
No
What do we think?
The manager’s presence may have an impact on how successful Basham has been. But at the end of the day, to play 250 matches for a club under three separate managers is an astonishing feat. It’s no wonder he is thought so highly of by the Blades fans.
