A lot of Newcastle United fans have responded to a report in the Daily Mail (as per Il Corriere) that claims the Toon have been offered the chance to sign former Blackburn Rovers man Nikola Kalinic on loan from Roma.
The 31-year-old has already rejected a move to Verona and Genoa and is said to be unsure of the prospect of returning to the Premier League, but the Magpies are keen.
Would Kalinic be a good signing for Newcastle?
Yes, he has a good goal record
No, he is past his best
Kalinic made 53 appearances for Blackburn and scored 13 goals before going on to play for AC Milan and Atletico Madrid, amongst others.
The rumour has received a mixed reaction from many Newcastle fans, with some unsure of Kalinic’s credentials.

He’s the worst striker I’ve ever seen Emile heskey type

A striker who’s scored 8 goals in over 50 appearances? Didn’t we just buy someone like that……? #nufc

Other Toon supporters, though, think that he would be a good signing.
Please… any striker would be better than our current options

He was on fire a couple of years ago, if he could re find that form he would be an excellent signing

It’s a no brainer as he’s shown world class finishing over the years and would definitely be some upgrade on what we currently have.

Anyone over what we’ve currently got. Rondon’s record wasn’t exactly spectacular when we signed him, and look how great he turned out.

What do we think?
Kalinic has a good goal record at most clubs he has been at, and that is certainly something Newcastle could do with.
Joelinton has only scored one goal while the club’s other strikers have not scored in the Premier League.
Kalinic was a flop at Blackburn, but since then, he has developed as a player and proved he can score at the highest level.
If the report is true, then the Toon should do all they can to bring him to the club.
