Newcastle United’s FA Cup replay with Oxford United has been selected for live broadcast on the BBC. The game will take place on Tuesday 4th February and kick-off is scheduled for 8:05pm.

The League One side held the Magpies to a 0-0 draw at St James’ Park on Saturday, much to the frustration of Steve Bruce who labelled his team’s mistakes as “ridiculous” as per BBC Sport. The Premier League outfit named a full-strength side that day, including their recent signing Nabil Bentaleb.

Will Newcastle United progress to the 5th round of this seasons FA Cup?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Here’s how the club’s supporters have reacted to the announcement the game is to be televised.

What do we think?

The supporters think they know why the BBC have chosen this particular game but could a shock really be on the cards? If Newcastle perform anything like the way they did in the first match, Oxford United have every chance of progressing in front of their own supporters.

Karl Robinson’s team are currently 8th in League One but have given a good account of themselves when faced with Premier League opposition in both the domestic cups this season. The Magpies should have enough in their locker to safely navigate through this one but it’s the magic of the FA Cup – therefore you never know what you’re going to get.
