This week, during his press conference, Phil Parkinson spoke on the potential business the club would be completed over the next few days. He insisted that transfers could take place, but only if they benefit the team.

“There are possibly more to come, but we will only bring one in if we feel it helps the team,” said Parkinson (Sunderland).

When fans read this statement on Twitter they were left confused. Not only do they think the team is in desperate measure of recruitment, they think just one signing wouldn’t be good enough.

In fact, many fans point to the club’s left-back position as being a serious area of concern. They are worried that if Denver Hume is injured there will be nobody available to step in and take his place in the lineup.

Do you think the club will sign a left-back in the next couple of days?

What do we think?

The side are leaving their potential squad deepening until the very last minute in this window, assuming more deals are coming. But, it is clear from the fans above that a backup for Hume is the bear minimum. The insist Parkinson makes that singing a priority over all else.
