What do we think?
The 23-year-old is League One’s top scorer this season with 15 goals and has overall scored 39 for Posh.
He has been him linked with a move back to Tyneside as well as Burnley and AFC Bournemouth.
Toney has impressed in the third tier of English football, but surely it would be too great of a risk for either of those clubs to take him and play him in the Premier League?
Newcastle signed Toney in 2015, but he only ever made four senior appearances before it was decided that he would not make the grade, and he was sold for £650,000.
Newcastle did not include a buy-back clause, but they do have a significant sell-on fee.
The 23-year-old, who is valued at £450,000 by Transfermarkt, is dominating League One, but many Newcastle fans feel he has found his level, and they do not regret letting him go.
