Supporters of Everton have slated Gylfi Sigurdsson following a Twitter post from Liverpool Echo journalist, Adam Jones.
On Monday afternoon, the reporter posted an article in which the Icelandic international explained why Everton players did not thank supporters at full time in the Merseyside derby (via Adam Jones), which led fans to slate the 30-year-old.
Not sure this excuse will wash with many
The players were obviously disappointed, but should have at least gone over to the fanshttps://t.co/Xfj1fEnsCe

If he walked over nobody would see him. I’ve seen wind have more of an influence on matches than him. He, along with another 7/8 of them, should have no future at this football club.

In all fairness to the man he shouldn’t be at the club we are buying too many players at the end of their careers , delph , siggurdson , Schneiderlin all mercenaries

How much do you believe Everton could get for selling Gylfi Sigurdsson?£0-£10m£11m-£20m£21m-£30m£31m+ |
This term, the middleman has featured in 23 league and cup games for the Toffees, during which he has bagged one goal and two assists (per Transfermarkt).
For his role in the FA Cup derby, Sigurdsson picked up an incredibly weak 2/10 performance rating (per Liverpool Echo), leaving fans having seen enough of the Icelandic midfielder.
Just words, sick of no action.

Think the answer lies in one word – embarrassment

Haven’t read it don’t care that they didn’t go over to the fans. The time for empty gestures is long gone.
The players need show some spine and bottle and play football.— Matt (@mattwill1982) January 6, 2020
It doesn’t wash…sounds so out of touch.
He’s been a very expensive mistake at our club. 5 or 6 in the same boat.
He’s scored some worldies, but that isn’t enough. Hopefully his YouTube reel will be enough for someone to buy him SOON

What do we think?
While some of the criticism of Sigurdsson has been a little over the top, it is clear that his time at Goodison Park will likely be coming to an end.
With Carlo Ancelotti reportedly happy to see him go to fund incomings (per Football Insider), it seems just a matter of time before the 30-year-old is sent packing.
