Manchester City starlet Phil Foden was handed a Premier League start versus Everton on New Years Day. The 19-year-old certainly grabbed the opportunity with both hands, turning in an impressive display and helping his side to all three points.
According to WhoScored.com, Foden’s performance was rated at 7.3/10, making him one of the standout performers at the Etihad on Wednesday. His individual statistics on the day – such as playing two key passes, completing two dribbles and making two successful tackles – further evidence just how good the England Under-21 international was and it hasn’t gone unnoticed by the club’s supporters.
Some reacted to a post left by City Chief on Twitter, whilst a few others made their own remarks about what the young midfielder brought to Pep Guardiola’s side against the Toffees on Wednesday late afternoon.

What do we think?
With Foden, perhaps, displaying his ability to perform at the top-level almost every time he plays, it is, arguably, becoming more and more difficult for Pep Guardiola to overlook him. The attacking-midfield area is extremely competitive at the Etihad and you can’t help but feel that in any other Premier League team, perhaps with the exception of Liverpool, the 19-year-old who is valued at £27m by TransferMarkt, would be good enough to start – or at least on a more consistent basis.
He’s made 19 appearances in all competitions so far this season, scoring two goals and providing four assists. David Silva is set to leave Manchester at the end of this current campaign and whether or not Guardiola splashes out on a replacement for the veteran Spaniard will tell us a great deal regarding just how much faith the former Barcelona boss has in Foden’s ability.
