Former Manchester City midfielder Samir Nasri was ‘underrated’, according to some of the club’s supporters. The Frenchman joined City back in 2011 from Premier League rivals Arsenal in controversial fashion, claiming City had ‘more passionate’ fans.

Nasri, for large parts, impressed during his spell in North-London, which is probably what prompted the Cityzens to make their move for the former Marseille man.

He continued to receive plaudits from the club’s supporters, Pep Guardiola and from the wider football community, but there are those who believe his talents were under-appreciated as they shared their views on a Twitter post from VON.

What do we think?

Samir Nasri won two Premier League titles and a League Cup with the Manchester club. He scored 27 goals and provided 40 assists, totalling 67 direct goal contributions in 176 appearances.

On the surface, his statistics make impressive reading but there’s a feeling amongst those who watched Nasri regularly, that in spite of the numbers, he never reached his full potential and that was down to a number of factors.

Injuries played a huge part in his demise and there were always question marks in regards to his attitude. He played 41 times for the French national team but when he eventually retires and looks back on his playing career, given the talent he had he will no doubt have more regrets than most.

Currently 32-years-old and playing his football for Anderlecht under Vincent Kompany, there’s still life in the Frenchman yet.
