Manchester City are unwilling to meet Wolverhampton Wanderers’ demands for Adama Traore – that’s according to Mundo Deportivo (reported via City Chief via Twitter). The winger has proven to be a thorn in the side of the Manchester giants this season scoring twice at the Etihad and once in the game between the two at Molineux in December.
Traore’s development has accelerated significantly under Nuno Espirito Santo but despite his progress, the supporters don’t believe he’s worth the €70m (£59.4m) Wolves are said to be demanding.
One fan even suggested signing the winger could be akin to having acquired Wilfried Bony in 2015, the Ivorian found life incredibly tough at the Etihad, as he managed just 11 goals in 46 appearances (per TransferMarkt).
Is Adama Traore worth €70m?
Yes
No
This is another Bony kind of flop isn’t it? They keep scoring against just us, we buy them..the flop…nkt. keep Sane for God’s sake

I only wish we could put available resources on a tried and tested CB in January – that’s the weakest link in this string City team

What do we think?
Adama Traore is certainly a talented individual but his success of late is largely down to the system in which he’s playing in – as it appears to suit his game perfectly. Nuno Espirito Santo’s sides set up in a similar way to those of Pep Guardiola (a 4-3-3 system), although he’s not guaranteed to be a success at Manchester City.
Add to that, the Cityzens clearly have other priorities – perhaps strengthening their defence in particular – and that’s why so many of the supporters would be against spending €70m (£59.4m) to sign him.
Given his standout performances versus City, it feels like an all too convenient story to write and one that doesn’t carry much substance.
