According to GOAL, “Leon Bailey is also a potential target” for Liverpool, which has got these Reds fans excited.

GOAL has stated that “Leon Bailey is also a potential target for the Reds, who are keen on adding more squad depth.” This latest transfer rumour was later shared on Twitter via LFC Transfer Room and Anfield Edition.

So far this season, Leon Bailey has played eight matches for Bayer Leverkusen, managing to get one assist and three goals in these outings. That’s a decent return from a player who’s only 22 years old, meaning there is still some room for improvement.

However, there may be a slight discipline issue with the Jamaican winger, as Bailey has also picked up two straight red cards in the league this season and is currently suspended until 19th January 2020.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans have been saying about Leon Bailey after the rumours broke out onto Twitter, with one suggesting the club should look to sign him over Jadon Sancho – a player who has allegedly attracted interest recently, although they are no longer thought to hold any (The Athletic):

Bailey’s first big move came when the 22-year-old was at AS Trencin, moving to Genk for just £1.26m. However, in January 2017 Bayer Leverkusen bought the Jamaican for £12.15m from the Belgian side, with whom he continues to ply his trade with in the Bundesliga.

What Do We Think?

With GOAL stating that Liverpool is “keen on adding more squad depth“, you have to wonder if Leon Bailey would be interested in being backup to the likes of Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane. Also, how much money is Jurgen Klopp aiming to spend on squad depth?

Although we would like to see this deal happen, with Transfermarkt valuing Bailey at £33.30m, the Jamaican could be an expensive squad player should his actual transfer fee be anywhere near that amount.
