These Liverpool fans have been discussing the latest January blow, with Timo Werner allegedly not interested in joining Liverpool when his reported €50million (£42.6m) release clause (which could be higher) comes into play.

The alleged disinterest from Timo Werner was reported by Simon Johnson, however, it was later relayed to these fans via Anfield Edition.

Interestingly, Liverpool have been linked with the German striker, with the link originating from transfer expert Ian McGarry, who was speaking on Reach Plc’s Transfer Window podcast back in October. He claimed that the 23-year-old could join Liverpool in January, before heading back to Leipzig on loan briefly.

Werner started his career at Steinhald’s youth setup, before being picked up by Stuttgart’s academy system in 2002. After making his way up the ranks, the striker was eventually moved to the first team in July 2013.

However, it wasn’t too long until RB Leipzig came knocking, with the 23-year-old joining them for £12.60m in July 2016.

Here’s what the Liverpool fans had to say about the alleged Timo Werner blow:

So far this season, Timo Werner has scored 18 goals in 17 Bundesliga matches, with the 23-year-old also getting six assists for RB Leipzig.

These fans don’t seem to be too upset with the alleged blow, which is a real surprise given the number of goals Werner has scored in Germany this season.

What Do We Think?

Timo Werner has proved he’s a goalscoring striker, especially with the three goals in six UEFA Champions League matches, so why would these Liverpool fans be happy to see him walk away?

Perhaps they are happy with what Roberto Firmino has been doing this season, scoring six goals in 20 Premier League games and none in the UEFA Champions League. We would definitely consider Werner an upgrade, with his 18 Bundesliga goals already this season to back that up.
