At the time of writing this, a lot of Leeds United fans had reacted to the news that Lewie Coyle is set to leave Elland Road on a permanent basis and sign a long-term deal at Fleetwood Town, with his departure having now since been confirmed since by the official club website.
The 24-year-old is currently on loan with Joey Barton’s men and has decided to join the Cod Army permanently.
Is this a sensible decision by Leeds?
Yes, he was never going to make it
No, should have been given more time
Many Leeds fans have responded to this news – with a lot of them wishing Coyle good luck in the future.
Lewie Coyle has agreed a permanent move to Fleetwood Town, @TheAthleticUK understands. Will sign a long-term deal later today. #lufc

Shame didn’t work out for him here looked like he could of kicked on. But sadly he slipped further down pecking order with both Dallas/Shackleton and even Berardi in front of him. Wish him all the best he seems to of found his level.

Shame to see him go without getting a real shot in the first team, but it’s a good move for him and hope he does well!

That will be on the cheap then but good luck to him – deserves the move.

weird that he’s just signed for Fleetwood on me Fifa20 career mode. Funny how things work out isn’t it

Real shame that, he’s a really talented attacking full back. Probably would have worked very well in a Bielsa system. I was always looking forward to him returning to Leeds. Seems to be common that young Leeds players are leaving on permanent transfers which is disappointing

Sensible move, best of luck Lewie!

What do we think?
Coyle, who is valued at £225k by Transfermarkt, has spent the last three seasons with Fleetwood, and in that time, he has made 121 appearances and provided 16 assists, including five this season.
The 24-year-old was once seen as a good prospect by Leeds and made 23 appearances for the Whites.
However, other players emerged ahead of Coyle, and he has gradually slipped down the pecking order and will now leave to try and help Fleetwood gain promotion into the Championship.
