Leicester City are thought to be “seriously enquiring” regarding the availability of numerous transfer targets as Brendan Rodgers looks to strengthen his squad this month – that’s what former defender Matt Elliott is hoping for, at least.

Elliott told Sky Sports (via Leicester Mercury): “You would imagine they are seriously enquiring at the very least.

“There have been rumours about Caglar Soyuncu’s future and that they are looking at a centre-back at Juventus (Merih Demiral). I would imagine Leicester are casting their eye over the world.”

Will Leicester City sign Demiral this month?

No

Whilst the club are being linked with a number of potential arrivals, the speculation regarding some of their top-performers is showing no signs of letting up.

Most-notably those linking James Maddison and Caglar Soyuncu with moves to the two Manchester clubs. Speaking in regards to the importance of keeping hold of their stars Elliott added: “Yes of course it’s vital for any team to keep your best players but I don’t think it’s anything that unduly worries the Leicester City manager and the board.

“Maddison is a top class player, of course he is, but he’s still in the development stage and I don’t think he’s in any mad rush to be leaving Leicester City.

“Who would? Even if the big boys come in and make huge offers Leicester are not in a situation where they need to sell.

“They have the financial backing, they have the progress they’re making, and they have the platform for the players to go and showcase themselves so I don’t think it’s anything that unduly worries Leicester City.

“And even if one, or even two, were to go they show they have the reinforcements ready to come in.”

TIF Tactics – The Foxes are in great shape

Leicester have entered this window in a position of great strength. They have enough financial power to recruit wherever they feel necessary – as Brendan Rodgers revealed during the summer when Harry Maguire was still a King Power Stadium star – but equally, that means they are not in a position where they can be forced by rival clubs to sell any of their stars mid-season.

The Foxes are on course to qualify for the UEFA Champions League for the first time since they won the Premier League title back in 2015/16 and, with the added financial reward that brings and enhanced status, the future is bright at the King Power Stadium.
