Would it be a mistake for Barcelona to appoint either Ronald Koeman or Roberto Martinez?Yes, they are poor managersNo, have since proved talent |
During his time with the Toffees, the Dutch 56-year-old, Koeman, had a rough season and a quarter at Goodison Park before getting the axe (as per BBC). Having a weak 1.48 points per game average over 58 games (per Transfermarkt).
Martinez, who was the man which preceded Koeman, fared only slightly better over a long period, with a 1.56 points per game total over 143 games managed (per Transfermarkt).
However, since their departure from Merseyside both have gone on to have successful international management careers, with Koeman returning the Netherlands to a former stature and Martinez impressing with Belgium (per Marca).
Despite their upturn in career trajectory, Everton fans were having none of it and believed that the Catalan giants could be making a huge mistake.

What do we think?
While neither manager had quite the desired stint whilst at Goodison Park, they are both successfully proving their managerial credentials in international management.
In football, a bad period does not make a bad manager and similarly, a good period does not make a good manager, however, despite not doing it at Everton, both have proved that they are capable managers on more than one occasion elsewhere.
