Fans of Everton have slammed Marcel Brands for his comments at the club’s Annual General Meeting regarding the strength of the squad.
As shared by the club’s official Twitter account (as per Everton), Brands was quoted as saying the squad has ‘a lot more quality’ than when he arrived, which had supporters in disbelief.

Disagree squad is full over paid mercenaries who are well past best or simply aren’t good enough like Walcott, Schneiderlin, sigurdsson

Is the squad in a better place now then when Marcel Brands arrived at the club?Yes, it's strongerNo, it's weaker |
The 57-year-old was appointed by the club in following Ronald Koeman’s tenure as manager which saw both the Dutch manager and the then director of football, Steve Walsh, removed from their posts (as per BBC).
While there was no criticism levied of the players that the Dutch director of football has signed himself, it was the sentiment that the club was in a much better place which irritated fans.
I wonder if the AGM was 4 weeks ago he would have dared spout this, but now we are battling for 10th !!!!! Life goals !!

What do we think?
While it is true that Everton has managed to shift on a number of players who were not cutting the mustard (per Transfermarkt), there appears to be some way to go in the eyes of supporters.
With the club floundering around under Marco Silva prior to Carlo Ancelotti’s arrival (per Liverpool Echo), the supporter who said that he would not have been saying the same four weeks ago hit the nail on the head.
