According to a report by Goal, Nottingham Forest are keen on taking Liverpool’s Pedro Chirivella on loan this January, although they could face some competition for his signature should the Premier League outfit decide he is available to leave.

It has been claimed: “Nottingham Forest are among those who are keen, but Chirivella’s display on Sunday should prompt further interest.”

Forest are apparently not the only club interested in signing Chirivella on loan, with Goal also stating: “Liverpool received two concrete offers from Championship clubs last week, but were unwilling to allow him to depart until the Everton game was out of the way.”

Chirivella was born in Valencia and has played for his national side Spain at U17’s level. The 22-year-old has played the vast majority of his football in the Premier League 2, playing 10 times this season in the development league and has scored and assisted once at this level.

Liverpool signed the Spaniard for £2.07m in July 2013, but the 22-year-old has spent most of his career on loan, with loan moves to Go Ahead Eagles, Willem II and Extremadura.

The Spanish midfielder has only ever played nine times for Liverpool’s first team, with three of these appearances coming in the EFL Cup. However, Chirivella did get one outing in the UEFA Europa League back in the 2015/16 season.

Verdict

We think this would be a great move if Nottingham Forest can pull this loan deal off, however, with competition already present, as Goal reported that there was “two concrete offers” already, the negotiations may be down to who the player prefers more.

It would be hard to say as to whether he could help Sabri Lamouchi’s side continue assault of the Championship and get the Tricky Trees a play-off spot (or better) at the end of the season, however Chirivella appears to have a number of the Anfield faithful on his side in regards to the amount of potential he has – especially after the performance he had against Everton at the weekend.
