Red Bull Leipzig striker, Jean-Kevin Augustin, is ‘keen’ on a transfer move to Leeds United in January, according to Phil Hay.

After a report published by the Athletic that stated that the Whites had turned their attention to the striker who is on loan at AS Monaco from the German club, Hay stated: ‘believe he’s keen’ on the move to Elland Road (per Phil Hay).

Less than productive loan move

During his current loan move to the Ligue 1 with Monaco, the Frenchman has just three goal contributions in 532 minutes of action (via Transfermarkt).

The 22-year-old striker, who is valued at £12.6 million (Transfermarkt), has featured in 13 games in all competitions for the Monaco club, during which he has bagged just one goal and two assists.

Following Eddie Nketiah’s recall by Arsenal (via Sky Sports), Marco Bielsa’s side has looked thin on the ground in terms of striking options.

With just Patrick Bamford in the senior side that could be labelled as an out-and-out striker (per WhoScored), a new forward has clearly become a January essential.

Attentions were first turned to Che Adams, however, Southampton played hardball and a potential deal fell by the wayside (as per BBC).

However, with just a 6.16/10 average rating for the season so far (as per WhoScored), Augustin may not be a suitable backup for Bamford.

Of his ten appearances in Ligue 1, eight have been from the substitutes bench and amassed just 260 minutes, while his only goal for the club came in the Coupe de la Ligue competition (as per WhoScored).

When compared to Bamford’s average rating 6.81/10 average rating and ten goals in 27 Championship appearances (per WhoScored), the Frenchman’s stats are dwarfed.
