Some West Bromwich Albion fans are seemingly desperate to see their defender Nathan Ferguson sign a new deal at The Hawthorns soon.

The 19-year-old has been key to the Baggies’ performances in the Championship so far this season, having established himself as a regular at the full-back position so far.

But the defender had not featured for the club before their recent game against promotion hopefuls Bristol City. And Ferguson posted a message on Instagram about being back from a suspension that he had received in the club’s 2-2 draw against Charlton.

Some fans are now desperate to see the player sign a new deal at the club as soon as possible.

Should Ferguson sign a new deal at West Brom?

Ferguson is a product of the West Bromwich Albion youth academy and has come leaps and bounds at the club since the beginning of the ongoing season.

This is the defender’s first full season at the club and Ferguson has played 14 times in the Championship this season, also scoring once and racking up one assist. He played as a right full-back early in the season, but has been featuring as a left-back after the first few games of the campaign.

The goal he has scored so far came when he played at left-back in the Baggies’ 2-0 win over Queens’ Park Rangers.

What do we think?

Ferguson has done very well for the club this season, considering it’s his first campaign of senior football anywhere. He has won 2.3 tackles per game, as well as making one interception per game. He has also completed 1.3 dribbles per game – showing how good he can be going forward too.

At 19, a player like Ferguson will be key if West Brom do achieve promotion to the Premier League. They are currently at the top of the pile and harbour major chances of going back up. If they do go up, Ferguson will surely attract attention from bigger clubs in England. To make sure they tie him down early and maximise his value, the Baggies have to convince him to sign a new deal.
