It has been a difficult end to 2019 for Sunderland fans. Since Phil Parkinson’s arrival, the team have struggled to find success in the league and in cup competitions. But luckily for fans the last game of the decade ended with a victory over Doncaster. The Black Cats walked away with a 2-1 victory thanks to goals from Lynden Gooch and Chris Maguire.
After the match, the club asked fans to nominate their man of the match. For the first time in a while, the supporters actually had a few names to mention. The most consistent name thrown out was the first goalscorer, Gooch. They were thoroughly impressed with his overall performance. If he continues to perform like he did they can imagine Sunderland will fly up the table.

Do you think Lynden Gooch was the Man of the Match against Doncaster?
Yes
No
One fan even compared Gooch, who is valued at £675k (as per Transfermarkt), to Diego Maradona.
Convinced Lynden Gooch is the second coming of Maradona after yesterday

What do we think?
Sunderland fans will be cautious not to get too carried away with this performance. The team still has a lot to prove before they can consider themselves in form. But Gooch’s performance does provide a glimmer of hope for the team who have witnessed little to cheer about in recent months.
