Sunderland fans will be dreading the thought of having to watch their unimpressive team play a few more matches before the January transfer window. The current players have shown that they are incapable of winning football matches. Perhaps when the window opens they can make some improvements to the squad. But, for now, Phil Parkinson has another idea.
“It’s a critical period for us with four games over Christmas. We have added some of the U23s in the squad so everyone is going to be utilised to the maximum and everyone has to be ready to play their part,” said Parkinson in his press conference (Sunderland).
Fans were unenthused with his desire to call upon the U23s. They pointed out that the reserve team haven’t had a good season at all, failing to win most of their games.
What a joke, the owners have killed the U18s, the U23s and the first team in a few months. Time they moved on and please take PP with you. Embarrassing.

Great news, under 23’s have been outstanding this year

Should Parkinson put his faith in the U23 players?
Yes
No
One fan says the only player worth promoting to the first-team is currently out on loan.
Not sure we can rely on the under 23’s looking at the teams form. But we do have some good talent but unfortunately the best one is out on loan, Ethan Robson.

What do we think?
There isn’t much Parkinson can realistically do right now. The fans have lost faith in players at every level of the club. It is, however, a chance for some of the U23 players to come in and change the fan’s opinion on them.
