Sunderland Football Club are set to face Phil Parkinson’s old team, Bolton, on Thursday. The manager spoke ahead of the game in a press conference on Monday. He answered questions on many topics, such as the state of the football club, as well as his expectations of the match.
“I had some good memories at Bolton. My time there was tainted by the financial problems in my last year, but I am looking forward to coming up against them again. It will be a tough game, but we are ready for it,” said Parkinson (Sunderland).
When fans read these comments from the team’s Twitter they were concerned. They question why Parkinson thinks it will be a tough game. They expected it to be an easy one. Then again, other fans think that the only reason the game will be a tough one is because of Parkinson himself.

Shouldn’t be a tough game, should be a a straightforward game, but nah, we’ll roll over and they give us a proper boxing

There in lies the problem ! Mentality too defeatist, negative and pessimistic. The negativity is palpable.

Tough game because we will let them play and have no style or tactics.

Do you think Sunderland's game against Bolton will be tough?
No
Yes
One fan calls out his peers. He doesn’t expect Parkinson to come out and say the game will be easy considering the current state of the club.
Yes I want Parkinson to go, but were some fans really expecting him to say that it will be an easy game?

What do we think?
Regardless of how ‘easy’ or ‘tough’ this game might or should be, Sunderland needs to get three points. Anything less will be catastrophic in the club’s attempt to get back within reach of a playoff spot.
