Sunderland Football Club announced this week that Kevin Phillips was set to be inducted into the club’s Hall of Fame in 2020 (Sunderland). The player made 146 appearances for the Black Cats, scoring 63 goals in the process (transfermarkt.co.uk).
After the club announced the news, fans were quick to congratulate him. The award is thoroughly deserved. However, there were quite a few fans who would like to see Phillip return to the club in a management role.
BHH. Should be the manager now

Would you like to see Kevin Phillips as the new manager of Sunderland?
Yes
No
Some fans are angered that he wasn’t considered for the role before they appointed current manager Phil Parkinson. It appears as though they would quite happily replace Parkinson at a moment’s notice.
And we didn’t even have the decency to get back to him over the (then) vacant managerial position.

Should of tried him as aanager instead of that fella who graffitis pass forward on the walls

What do we think?
Fans are quite willing to trade Phil for Phillips. Considering how poorly results have been going, there may be a vacancy open for the Hall of Fame inductee sooner rather than later. There is every chance, however, that given the current state of the club, Phillips wouldn’t want the position anyway.
