Some Southampton fans have made it clear that they are confident of keeping Leeds United target Che Adams at the club after his performance against Chelsea recently.

The Saints picked up a huge 2-0 win over Frank Lampard’s Blues at Stamford Bridge on Boxing Day. Despite having Danny Ings on the bench for the game, Southampton got two goals against fourth-placed Chelsea. Young Michael Obafemi and Nathan Redmond scored a goal each to lift the Saints up to 14th in the Premier League.

Che Adams started upfront. He is being linked with a move to Leeds United, Birmingham City and Nottingham Forest in recent days.

Southampton fans: Did you like Adams' performance against Chelsea?

He was very good!

But after the performance against Chelsea, Saints fans are confident that they will keep Adams longer.

The Saints signed Adams from Championship side Birmingham this past summer for a reported £15m fee. The club had also tried to sign the Englishman from the Blues in the January of 2019.

This season, Adams has played 16 times in all competitions for Southampton. 14 of those appearances have come in the Premier League. During this time, he is yet to score a goal but has a single assist to his name and that came against Bournemouth.

The start against Chelsea on Boxing Day was Adams’ seventh start of the season. His last one came as many as three months ago against Bournemouth themselves. Since then, he has played only 41 minutes before the 2-0 win at Stamford Bridge.

For Birmingham last season, Adams had impressed. He had played 44 games in the Championship, racking up an impressive tally of 22 goals and five assists.

What do we think?

It is way too early for Southampton to even consider letting Adams leave. Not every player can make the transition to Premier League football easily. His performance against Chelsea showed promise, as he won six aerial duels and completed three dribbles. The only way forward is up.
