During their midweek fixture against Aberdeen, Rangers Football Club dropped two vital points. Despite taking a two-goal lead in the 30th minute, Steven Gerrard’s side conceded two goals in the 39th and 48th minute, drawing the game level (BBC).

Centre-back Connor Goldson could have arguably done much better when defending during the buildup to both of Aberdeen’s goals. He dove into a tackle but didn’t win the ball during the first goal and was standing static in the box during the second. Fans were quick to criticise the centre-back. They haven’t been impressed with his performances for a few weeks now but this week it cost them greatly. One fan slated Goldson for stopping to ask for a freekick while the game was still being played during the second goal.

Could Conor Goldson have prevented the second Aberdeen goal if he didn't stop to complain?

Some fans demand that Goldson is dropped for their weekend cup final fixture against Celtic. They don’t think they have a chance if he plays.

What do we think?

It was easy for Goldson, who is valued at £2.93 million (as per Transfermarkt), to avoid criticism when his team was winning every week. But because of his involvement in a game that could seriously cost Rangers in their title race, it appears as though he has been found out.
