On the same weekend that Rangers youth player Nathan Patterson signed a contract extension with the club, James Maxwell also committed his future to the Gers (Rangers). The left-back turned 18 earlier in the month, meaning that he has plenty of years ahead of him to impress in a Rangers shirt (transermarkt.co.uk).
When Rangers announced the signing the fans were thrilled. They were so happy to see that the left-back was staying for the long haul. One supporter did admit that he thinks the player needs a loan spell before making the jump to the first-team though.
Great to see the club looking into the future and securing these talented players on longer contracts – what an opportunity for young James to kick in further under the best coaches and at the best facility in the country.

Do Rangers have the best academy in the country?
No
Yes
Others look at the bigger picture. They are happy to see so many players making the move up through the academy and can’t wait for them to get minutes on the field.
Brilliant it would be great to see these young players come through to the first team in time and to be given a real chance

Really encouraging news that we’re starting to tie down the talent in our youth squad. Got big futures ahead of them!

What do we think?
The signing of youth players is giving Rangers supporters much to cheer about. Should they continue to bring talent up through the ranks, it will only strengthen Steven Gerrard’s side.
