Liverpool fans on Twitter have been reacting to the latest injury updates ahead of their Champions League clash with Red Bull Salzburg.
This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official Twitter page saying that Reds manager Jurgen Klopp revealed that Dejan Lovren and Georginio Wijnaldum are fit to face Salzburg. Whereas Adam Lallana is not and that Joel Matip is not expected to be fit before January.
This post then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were not happy with certain aspects of Klopp’s latest injury update.
Who should start alongside Virgil van Dijk against Salzburg?
Joe Gomez
Dejan Lovren
Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans reacting to Pearce’s post:
Once again proving my theory correct ‘Whenever LFC say a player is out for 2-3 Weeks’ always add +4 onto that schedule.

Why do the club always lie about injury lengths? I understand the odd diagnosis will be wrong, but it’s consistnsly 3~4 times longer than normally stated. Odd.

Why are Matips injuries always so secret, rarely given estimated return dates, blokes made of cheese puffs

A couple of fans are growing frustrated with Adam Lallana, with his recent injury history possibly playing a part in the frustration.
Lallana plays just one game and he’s out for the rest of the season. To think we pay him heavily is so annoying

@Danhume92 lallana out again

Matip, in particular, has been a big injury issue for Jurgen Klopp’s side. If he indeed does miss the remaining games Liverpool have in this calendar year, the centre-half will have been sidelined for 11 weeks.
Matip’s injury update seemed to have gathered the biggest reaction out of anyone mentioned in Pearce’s post.
Matip is so unlucky. Every time he started to hold his place in the first team, he would get injured.

Matip prolonged absence is starting to be concerning, such a crucial asset could be the key to our defensive assurance and stability over the second part of the season,
let’s hope his recovery to hurry up— fran (@fran63645593) December 9, 2019
Don’t really need any updates on Lallana. But glad Gini & Lovren are good to go. Get well Matip…we need you for the rest of the season.

What do we think?
It was a shame to see Matip get injured as he was on a good run of form alongside Virgil van Dijk in the Liverpool backline. Now that the injury to Matip seems more serious than originally thought, it’s no wonder some Liverpool fans are worried about their man.
