Liverpool fans have been slating Sadio Mane for a missed chance he had in Wednesday’s Merseyside derby victory.

This comes after Liverpool journalist James Pearce shared a post on his official page calling Mane’s miss a “sitter”.

This post then gathered many replies from Liverpool fans who were also quick to criticise the winger for his miss.

Was Sadio Mane Liverpool's man of the match against Everton?

Yes

Yes

No

No

Here’s a sample of Liverpool fans slating Mane for his miss against Everton:

This miss from Mane, who is valued at £108 million (Transfermarkt), came in the second half where after a good link-up from Georginio Wijnaldum, Mane’s resulting shot fell inches wide of Jordan Pickford’s goal.

Despite Jurgen Klopp’s side winning the match 5-2 and climbing eight points ahead at the top of the Premier League table, some Liverpool fans still decided to tweet their frustrations with Mane’s miss.

What do we think?

Mane’s miss was undoubtedly a poor one that was very unlike him. But in the grander scheme of things, Liverpool won the game and Mane already had a goal and two assists for the Reds’ two opening goals by that point anyway. So the miss was disappointing yes, but not the end of the world by any means.

The best thing for the Senegalese winger to do now is to forget all about the miss and focus completely on Liverpool’s next game in this title-chasing season.
