Some Celtic fans are not happy with the conduct of left-back Boli Bolingoli in the club’s recent 2-1 win over St. Mirren in the Premiership on Boxing Day.

Celtic moved back up to the top with a five-point lead following the victory over St. Mirren, which saw both James Forrest and Callum McGregor both get themselves on the scoresheet.

Neil Lennon’s men had Boli Bolingoli start at left-back. Young Greg Taylor was on the bench, with Jonny Hayes dropping out.

Celtic fans: Should Bolingoli play regularly?

he's good enough for that

But Hoops fans aren’t happy with Bolingoli and they are fuming at his poor conduct in the game.

Bolingoli, 24, arrived at Parkhead from Austrian club Rapid Vienna in the summer of 2019 for a fee of £3million. The club had also signed another left-back in Greg Taylor this past summer, as Kieran Tierney left for Arsenal.

So far this season, the Belgian has been the Hoops’ first-choice option at left-back. He has played 13 games in the Premiership, not scoring or assisting even once so far. In all competitions, the defender has played 26 games and has picked up a total of two yellow cards.

Bolingoli has started three of Celtic’s last four Premiership games. For Rapid Vienna last season, he had played 42 times in all competitions. He scored twice for them, racking up five assists as well.

What do we think?

Bolingoli has been the club’s first-choice left-back because he is a natural in that position. Jonny Hayes has been playing there to do a job when Bolingoli isn’t fit. But Greg Taylor will slowly be eased into action. He might not be the fairest player in the side, but he does do a job.
