Some Celtic fans are raving on about the performance of Odsonne Edouard in their recent 1-0 win over their Old Firm rivals in the Scottish League Cup final (BBC).

The Hoops won their 19th League Cup title because of the win and it was also Neil Lennon’s first win of the competition’s crown in his managerial career. He has won the Premiership title and the Scottish Cup, but never the League Cup.

A second-half goal from Christopher Jullien came around the same time as Alfredo Morelos missed a penalty. Jeremie Frimpong was also sent off to allow Rangers room into the game.

But Celtic fans are ecstatic about the performance of Odsonne Edouard, who returned to action last night.

Edouard, 21, had not featured for the club in the last three games in all competitions. He was out due to a knock. In his absence, as Lewis Morgan was the man tasked with starting up front in his absence. Against Rangers on Sunday though, Edouard had played 31 minutes of the game.

In all competitions this season though, Edouard has played 26 times for the Hoops. He has racked up a tally of 13 goals and he also has 12 assists to his name this season. Nine of them have come in the league, where has also racked up five assists.

Last season, Edouard had racked up lesser numbers than this. He had a tally of 52 appearances in all competitions, scoring 22 times and had eight assists to his name. He had joined the club in the summer of 2018 for a fee of £9million.

What do we think?

Edouard is a crucial player for Celtic. No club can do too much better without their first-choice striker and Edouard has scored enough goals over the last two seasons to prove his importance to this side. If he had started against Rangers, they could have, perhaps, won by a bigger margin.
