Wolves manager Nuno Espirito Santo has given an update on Willy Boly’s injury ahead of the Brighton clash on Sunday.

Espirito Santo has said: “He’s improving and he’s already walking with only one crutch to support him.”

The Wolves manager has also regarded Boly as “a very important player” for the side. That’s very high praise for the 28-year-old, who so far this season has played eight games in the Premier League and a further three in the UEFA Europa League.

The Frenchman has an average WhoScored rating 7.35/10, which is the third-highest in the whole Wolves squad, with Adama Traore leading the way on 7.43/10, so narrow margins for the top spot. Boly currently averages three tackles per match; amazingly that’s only 1.8 tackles less than Leicester City’s Wilfred Ndidi.

The Wolves manager has said that Boly is “improving“, so hopefully it won’t be too long until the 28-year-old can start again. Espirito Santo clearly rates the Ivorian highly, considering he’s played a whopping 990 minutes already this season.

Verdict

Wolves have failed to keep a clean sheet in four of their last six matches in all competitions, which isn’t disastrous, so they haven’t completely fallen apart without Boly, although it would not be hard to believe that every fan and even his team-mates will be hoping for a speedy return. However, Espirito Santo will be keen to not rush the 28-year-old’s recovery, as the last thing he’ll want is for the Ivorian to pick up another injury.

Boly, who is valued at £13.5 million (as per Transfermarkt), last played against Slovan Bratislava on 24th November; a game in which Wolves won 2-1 away. The manager failed to give a date when asked for a possible return time, simply saying “not yet. Boly is improving.”
