Fans of Wolverhampton Wanderers have fumed over a stat on Adama Traore which was relayed to the Old Gold fans by Tim Spiers.
Following the Molineux club’s 2-2 draw with Brighton and Hove Albion, the Athletic journalist, Spiers, was on hand to relay that in Traore’s 25 appearances for Wolves this term, 21 opposition players have been booked for fouling the Spaniard (via Tim Spiers).
With Wolves fans incensed by the clear targeting of their 23-year-old attacker for a rough ride, they fumed over the stat which was relayed by the journalist.

Really need to start looking at red cards. It’s becoming a joke and they Really are gonna injure him

Sin Bin. Stuart Pearce made a good point on talksport yesterday, saying the cynical fouls where a player hacks another down just to stop the attack and takes a yellow card should be a 10 minute sin bin as well. The amount of times Traore gets hacked I think it’s a great idea.

He needs more protection or they might cause some serious harm to him

It’s becoming so cynical and targeted Nuno might even need to point it out in the media. It’s not his style at all, but at some point, one of those challenges will end in ligament damage or worse. It’s clearly a plan of tactical fouling.

Should more be done to punish tactical fouls in football? No, they're part of the gameYes, they can be dangerous |
As mentioned by Spiers, the Spanish attacker has featured in 25 games for the Old Gold this term, and over those games he has scored three goals and assisted six (via Transfermarkt).
With a 7.44/10 average rating for the season so far it is clear that Traore is a key man (via Whoscored), which led supporters to be worried over the 23-year-old sustaining an injury due to his rough treatment.
They did a right job on him today

This right here is exactly the reason Neymar is injured all the time, cynical fouls not even going for the ball. Sadly it’s part of the game.

How many off them were scathing, I worry hes gonna get seriously injured by the hackers

I agree it’s not just Adama. I assume when someone is seriously hurt they MIGHT do something

What do we think?
While it may be viewed by some opposition sides that the only way to stop the marauding winger is to bring him down, it does present a serious injury risk.
Tactical fouls sound harmless enough but should Traore pick up an injury through his consistent targeting, questions must be asked somewhere.
