Spurs fans were less than impressed to see that referee Mike Dean will take charge of their trip to Southampton on New Year’s Day.
Indeed, Mike Dean has taken charge of 15 games in the Premier League so far this season; handing out 68 yellow cards and two reds.
Many Spurs fans are concerned that Dean will favour Southampton, perhaps not forgiving the referee for his performance in Spurs’ 1-0 defeat by Newcastle earlier in the season; the only Spurs match he has refereed so far this season. Although fans are concerned about the appointment, fans will no doubt also be wary of the VAR officials for the game at St Mary’s, as the technology continues to prove controversial.

Does it really matter these days though? It’s the guy who controls VAR who we should be worried about

These Spurs fans are clearly not happy with the news of Dean’s appointment, so will be hoping that the team can perform despite any controversial decisions which may go against them on Wednesday.
