Spurs have seemingly been handed a transfer boost after reported target (DHA, via Sport Witness) Zeki Celik revealed that it is a dream of his to play in the Premier League.

Spurs have been linked with a move for the Lille right-back, who is well known to current Spurs assistant manager Joao Sacramento after his time at the French club. The 22-year-old told Turkish news outlet TRT Spor (via Sport Witness) that it is a dream of his to play in England and that he is already learning English.

Here’s what he had to say:

“Who knows, maybe I will play there in the future. It’s a dream. Everyone would love to play in the Premier League.

“My biggest aim is to play in this great competition. I am learning English. I have ambitions and targets. I hope I will reach them.”

The Turkish international enjoyed a successful campaign with Lille last season; making 34 appearances as the French side secured Champions League qualification following a strong season in Ligue 1. His performances seemingly caught the eye of Sacramento, who looks to have convinced Jose Mourinho that he would be an excellent signing for Spurs, although the report suggests that they may have to wait until the summer to complete a deal.

TIF Tactics:

Spurs currently only have Serge Aurier and Kyle Walker-Peters as natural right-backs at the club, so it is no surprise that Mourinho is keen to add depth in that position. Celik is currently valued at £15.3 million by transfermarkt so wouldn’t be too expensive should Spurs look to make a move and the Turkish international would presumably challenge Aurier for a spot in the first-team.

The 22-year-old’s comments suggest that he is very keen on a move to the Premier League and his connection with Sacramento suggests that Spurs are the obvious choice. Although his form this season hasn’t been the best; averaging just a 6.58 rating, a move for Celik in the summer looks likely at this point.
