Spurs are reportedly monitoring Bayer Leverkusen wonderkid Kai Havertz but will face stiff competition from fellow Premier League sides Liverpool, Manchester United and Chelsea for his signature.

According to Sky Sports, Spurs have been monitoring the German international for some time, with the youngster having impressed Mauricio Pochettino’s scouts in previous seasons. Havertz burst onto the scene when he made his Bundesliga debut aged just 17 back in 2016 and has since gone on to become a regular in the Leverkusen side; making 124 appearances in total.

The 20-year-old has also become a regular in Joachim Low’s Germany side; having already made seven appearances for his national team after making his debut last year. It is no surprise that some of Europe’s biggest clubs are taking a keen interest in Havertz therefore, although with the youngster currently valued at £81 million (Transfermarkt) he will not come cheap.

TIF Tactics:

If Spurs’ interest in Havertz is genuine then he could be the ideal replacement for outgoing Christian Eriksen, who looks set to leave the club at the end of the season when his contract expires. The German youngster has four goals in all competitions so far this season, although Leverkusen have been struggling as they currently sit 7th in the Bundesliga and saw themselves eliminated from the Champions League last week.

If his side fail to qualify for the Champions League again next season, it certainly would not be a surprise to see the 20-year-old leave the German side and with Spurs now boasting one of the best managers in world football, perhaps a move to North London is on the table.
